Phase 1 Environmental Assessments

Western Petroleum Management (WPM), an Indigenous Prime Contractor, and its highly motivated and experienced team of professionals and subcontractors exceeded expectations on projects funded by Alberta Site Rehabilitation well abandonment program during the fall of 2020.
Western Petroleum Management would like to congratulate all its employees and subcontractors for a job well done and the successful completion of multiple project milestones and deliverables, including the following:

Downhole and surface abandonment of 188 wells
Utilized an innovative 2-Stage Resin plug to permanently abandon 65 wells
Removed equipment on 80% of wellbore abandonment sites
Completed all AER DDS and Onestop submissions
Maximized usage of local contractors to minimize logistics cost
Indigenous personnel involved on majority of projects
Worked with Landowners and other stakeholders to minimize access issues or other concerns
Excellent safety record with no incidents or accidents
Completed two (SRP period 4) projects where Indigenous workers participation exceeded 75%
Committed to paying subcontractors in a timely manner. As of year-end 90%+ of all subcontractor’s invoices have been paid in full for services provided

SPECIALISTS IN ABANDONMENTS

WPM has made 750+ applications for closure and reclamation work for a number of its small and mid-size clients under the NEW Alberta Governments Site Rehabilitation Program.  The first round (May 1 to May 15) includes $100 million targeting oil and gas sites needing abandonment and/or reclamation, projects that require 100% government funding.  The second and current round (May 15 to June 15) targets oil and gas sites that deal with Section 36 of the Surface Rights Act and require 100% government funding.

Western Petroleum Management Ltd (WPM), utilizing our financial capability and experience, is readily available to help clients resolve their Liability Management Ratio (LMR), the Liability License Ratio (LLR), wellbore, facilities and pipeline abandonment(s) and reclamation of all surface sites.

Personnel within WPM have abandoned over 300 wells, including wells with SCVF, gas migration, base of ground water issues, poor cement bond and loss of casing integrity. We have managed abandonment programs where we have utilized CHAT logs, noise log, temperature logs and HiFi Engineering Fiber Optic log for very low rate fluid or gas flow.

We recently developed and patented an innovative light weight dump bailer that is taking the abandonment industry by storm.
